The Downtown Escondido Makeover Continues: Grand Avenue

Construction updates

Construction and final beautification efforts are progressing smoothly and on track to be completed by Spring 2025. We greatly appreciate your support as we wrap up this exciting development to Grand Avenue!

This week, landscaping teams will begin adding the final touches to Subphase 1, brightening up this section with new greenery. In Subphase 2, teams will start installing the outdoor dining decorative fences. Meanwhile, in Subphase 3, construction crews will continue staking for curbs and gutters around the new roundabout as they prepare to start laying concrete in the second week of March.

Traffic Reminders: As we near the final construction phases, we want to keep you updated on important traffic changes. The intersection at Grand Avenue and Broadway is temporarily closed, with alternative routes via Valley Parkway and 2nd Avenue. The Kalmia traffic circle is open and through traffic has resumed from Juniper to Kalmia, but the section from Kalmia to Maple remains closed. Please be cautious and follow pedestrian walkways near Broadway. We appreciate your patience as we work to make Grand Avenue even better for our community!
